The Iceline via Little Yoho Valley
The Iceline trail was constructed ("scratched from the glacial rubble"according to Classic Hikes in the Canadian Rockies) in 1987. The trail contours near the edge of Emerald Glacier for 5 kms affording spectacular views of the Yoho Valley. At the Celeste Lake junction the trail joins a section that existed before 1987 and descends into the Little Yoho Valley. We stopped for a lunch break near the Stanley Mitchell ACC hut. The elevation gain for this hike was 700m.
We had heard the bridge over Little Yoho River was out. But Parks Canada folks had constructed a very nice 'makeshift' replacement.
Sheila 'relaxing' during our lunch break!
